AFTERCARE

YOUR GUIDE TO TATTOO AFTERCARE

Keep in mind that tattoo care varies from person to person, so what may work for you might not work for the person next to you. But what we have found that works for everyone - be patient and be kind to your tattoos. The healing process can take anywhere from 4-5 weeks or more. We have tried our best to create this aftercare breakdown for you and if you have any questions and/or concerns, please contact via email. 


DERM : 

*Derm stays on for 4-6 days. Remove the derm early IF : 

  • it starts peeling off and the tattoo is exposed
  • water is getting inside the bandage while showering

It is OKAY if you have ink or blood/plasma inside the bandage with your tattoo. That is very normal and expected.

If you have any type of reaction to the adhesive from the derm, please remove immediately and contact us via email with pictures. If it is anything minor and there are no concerns for the tattoo, start caring for the tattoo as seen below. 


Standard Aftercare Procedures


FIRST TWO WEEKS : 

  • Lightly wash your tattoo 2-3 times a day
  • Apply ointment/lotion 3-4 times a day

You are in high risk for skin tears because the skin is still trying to grow back from the tattoo. When your skin tears, it can create small scars in the tattoo so it is important to be diligent about using your ointments and lotions.


ONCE TATTOO HAS PEELED AND IS SHINY: 

  • Apply lotion 2 times a day. Keep the tattoo from getting excessively dry


EVERY DAY FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE : 

  • Apply lotion
  • Use 50 SPF sunscreen on your tattoos


*If your tattoo is oozing and shows another color other than white/ink in the first week please contact vie email with photos*

Do's & Do not's

DO : 

  • Trust the process!!!
  • Take care of your tattoo like it last forever ... Because it does!

DO NOT : 

  • Working out/excessive sweating within the first week
  • Large bodies of water/tanning - Extended sun exposure first 4 weeks 
  • Washing with scented soap or lotions
  • Aquaphor 
  • Peroxide/Rubbing alcohols
  • Put second skin/Saniderm on yourself a week or more into healing process
